What this is
Ask an assistant how many potholes Long Beach closed last quarter, or which council district a street sits in, and it will usually guess, or tell you it cannot browse. The answer exists. It is on the City of Long Beach open data portal, in a machine-readable API that has been public the whole time. The gap is not the data. The gap is that nothing stands between the portal and the assistant.
Sonar Connections built that layer. Every dataset below has a page carrying its description, size, freshness, license, field list and a small sample, marked up in schema.org so a crawler reads it as structured data rather than as prose. The same catalog is served live over a Model Context Protocol server, so an assistant can query it during a conversation. Both surfaces state the same facts, and both name the publisher as the source.
Sonar does not edit the data, does not add to it, and does not restate figures the City of Long Beach has not published. Where the publisher states no license, this layer says so rather than assuming one. Sonar is not affiliated with the City of Long Beach.

Three of the fifteen carry records about people in circumstances they did not choose to publish: police stop data, criminal incident data and city employee demographics. Their pages show the field list and the City of Long Beach's own link, and no sample rows. They are lawfully public and Sonar cites them, because refusing to cite a public record is not a privacy win. What Sonar declines to be is a second copy of them on an indexable page, or a bulk-export proxy in front of an assistant. Read them at the DataLB portal, under the City of Long Beach's terms.
